The ‘Stumps’ Archive

by on Feb.05, 2020, under Interviews

In one of the many incarnations of Whoisthefezz over the years, in it’s later stages of life we went from the “Modern Drinking” tagline to exclusively covering cricket. Myself and Freemo did it all from IPL retrospectives, previews for meaningless India v Sri Lanka series and hell we even covered the now defunct Indian Cricket League from about 2008 until it fizzled out in 2012.

Who would have guessed that five years later, I’d actually host a cricket show on the radio! Well it happened and it was with my childhood idol Simon O’Donnell for the first season and the following year team up with former Test spinner Bryce McGain. So I present to you the Stumps 2017-18, 2018-19 archive!

Decade In Review

by on Dec.22, 2019, under Blog

As you may or may not know, traditionally I wrap up a year with my cheeky little year in review video. However with 2020 on the horizon, I figured we’d need a bit more than a quick two or three minutes of video with a Pitbull backing track. So let’s peel back the layers on the decade that was the 2010s

Top Ten Wrestling Matches of the 2010s

by on Dec.12, 2019, under Wrestling

I’m just gonna come out and say it, the 2010s weren’t that bad as everyone makes out to be – there’s been some insanely good matches not just in the WWE but even the many different alternatives to them and that’s what made the decade so good! So as we look towards 2020 and say farewell to this decade here’s my top ten matches from 2010 – 2019.

Obviously don’t take this as gospel and your mileage may vary when it comes to your taste in pro-graps but these are the ten matches that stood out to me from the 2010s that really hit me in that feel spot

According to my Facebook memories, on this day eight years ago I did my first ever on air shift for HOT FM WA. It’s no secret that I’ve always had a huge desire to be a workday FM jock and it was a fill in shift in the afternoon on HOT FM WA that got the ball rolling that lead me to a network breakfast show, and something I thought would never happen – doing shifts on Nova 100 in Melbourne.

Here’s some of the fun I had in WA delivering all the hits:

Amin’s Elite Writeup

by on Oct.05, 2019, under Wrestling

It’s literally been the biggest week in pro-wrestling since the Monday Night Wars back in the late 90s and early 2000s, so it’s a very exciting time to be a wrestling fan. Now I’ve been down with Total Nonstop Action/Impact Wrestling since day one back in 2002 but really the arrival of All Elite Wrestling signals for the first time since WCW closed it’s doors that we have two major league promotions going head to head with weekly television (sorry TNA) so I thought it’s time to dust off the old recapping skills and have a looksee at the debut show AEW Dynamite!

Overnight Crowd WWE Interviews: Vol 2.

by on Aug.07, 2019, under Interviews, Wrestling

With the impending arrival of WWE SummerSlam next Monday, we’re approaching two years of me doing interviews with WWE Superstars. It’s been a real pleasure to have the privilege to attend WWE media days and press conferences and have those pinch yourself moments in realising that I talk to wrestlers from time to time thanks to WWE Australia. If you wanna play catch up on any of the interviews I’ve done from SummerSlam 2017 onwards check it out here, otherwise enjoy all the chats I’ve had with RAW and SmackDown Live superstars since SummerSlam 2018.

Pro-graps is awesome

by on Apr.08, 2019, under Blog, Wrestling

Becky Lynch wins the RAW and SmackDown Live Women's Championships in the main event of WM35
It’s going to sound stupid and a half but this is the most wonderful time of the year for me – WrestleMania season and another one is in the history books and as always when I get to this time of the year I’m always reminded just why I love professional wrestling so much

Super Show-Down: The Recap

by on Jan.05, 2019, under Wrestling

WWE Super Show-Down Review

You’ve seen what 17 year old Nims thought (in a “George Lucas put Hayden Christensen in ‘Return of the Jedi’ kind of way) of the WWE Global Warning Tour back in 2002, and with the re-release of the event exclusively at JB Hi-Fi alongside the DVD of the Super Show-Down now seems a great time to do a recap of what 33 year old Nims thought of the WWE SSD!

Local F****** Warning Tour: The Recap

by on Oct.06, 2018, under Wrestling

WWE Local Warning Tour

Back in 2002 we were lucky enough to attend the WWE’s first ever stadium show in Australia, The WWE Global Warning Tour at the then named Colonial Stadium. We dubbed it “Local F****** Warning” because it was the night after our Melbourne High School Year 12 social. Ahead of the #WWESSD tonight at the MCG, I’ve dug up the original recap and pictures from the ‘Whoisthefezz’ recap back in 2002 with some… George Lucas style edits. Here’s how a 17 year old Nims enjoyed the WWE live for the first time ever!

Overnight Crowd WWE Interviews: Vol. 1

by on Aug.18, 2018, under Interviews, Wrestling

The Overnight Crowd

In the lead up to WWE SummerSlam 2017, the good people at WWE Australia gave me an opportunity to speak to members of both the RAW and SmackDown Live rosters beginning with former WWE Champion Seth Rollins. As we head in to SummerSlam this Monday, I thought now would be a great time to chronicle every single chat I’ve had with a WWE Superstar from that point til now.

Once again, all the WWE Superstars appear courtesy of WWE Australia!
